Gaea's Children is a childcare, preschool and after school center with a post-modern educational design. We have a whole child focus, nurturing the mind, body and spirit of each child in our care. We offer an organic diet, integrated education, and practice positive and attachment philosophies.
We seek to cultivate every child's natural gifts and multiple intelligences; to balance direct instruction with natural discovery so that learning becomes intrinsically rewarding.
Research has shown that punishment, grades, and even rewards negatively impact a child's intrinsic curiosity and desire to learn; we have created an environment where children are taught how to learn for learnings sake.
Ultimately it isn't as important what the child learns as how the child learns. How we teach children and how we teach them to learn has a lasting impression on their future quality of life. Will they always be spending the present working hard at something they find distasteful; or can we teach them the pleasure of learning for the intrinsic enrichment and satisfaction inherent in learning without stipulations.
